I have been coming to the reunion meetings with Randy and Rama at the Sophia Freewill Baptist Church, and have been joined a few times with John, Rene’, Karen and Faye as their schedules allow. I am very anxious to see as many of our old classmates as possible at each event. I feel as if our 2nd - 3 class 40 year reunion will be a success. I changed the current picture of me and added one on my 49th birthday with my 11 year old twin grandsons, Ethan and Tyler, and 8 year old grandson Aiden. Just wanted to share them with you all. MARK E. SMITH'S BIOGRAPHY
Mark graduated and chose not to attend college after graduation but went straight into the work force in 1978. Mark was married on October 4th, 1980 to WWHS Class of 1980 grad Lena Carol Miller. After having 2 children, Chad Aaron (4-28-83) and Erica Dawn (9-13-86), Mark and Lena divorced in 1986 and neither have ever remarried. Mark began working for a company in 1981 and was employed 35 years there before it shut down due to the declining coal mining climate. Mark now drives for Castellini Group locally in 18 wheelers. Mark's daughter Erica had twin sons with David Utt of Coal City. Born premature at 7 months, Ethan Dominic Smith and Tyler Christian Smith were born November 28, 2006. Both of the twins are doing well despite the premature births. Mark began college late in life, in 1993 at the College of West Virginia, while still working 70 plus hours a week. Mark graduated in 1998 from CWV with a 4.0 GPA, better than high school's final grade that earned Mark Salutatorian of the class of 1978. Mark currently resides in Raleigh County down North Sand Branch Road near the Appalachian Bible Institue in Bradley. He has owned his home there since 1983. One of Mark's goals in life was to visit every state in the United States of America accomplishing that goal in 2010 visiting Alaska concluding his conquest.
